The Purple Umbrella Festival is a creative platform where imagination meets purpose. Founded to amplify the voices of children, PUTF empowers young minds to tell stories that matter — with climate change at the heart of its 2025 edition. Through the magic of theatre, children become storytellers, advocates, and changemakers, using the stage to highlight the urgent need for environmental action.
Supported by schools, environmental organizations, UN agencies, and artists, PUTF brings together performances, workshops, and discussions, all aimed at inspiring audiences to see the world through the eyes of the next generation. Each act, whether comedic, dramatic, or musical, is a call to action — proving that creativity is a powerful force for change.
At PUTF 2025, we believe that storytelling has the power to shape a more sustainable future, and every child has a voice worth hearing.
Join us, and let their stories inspire change.
The Purple Umbrella Festival was born from a simple yet powerful belief — that children’s voices matter, especially when it comes to the future of our planet. In 2018, a small group of educators, theatre artists, and environmental advocates came together with a shared vision: to create a space where children could use theatre to express their thoughts, fears, and hopes about the world they will inherit.
The purple umbrella became a symbol of this vision — a protective, nurturing canopy under which young minds could freely explore creativity, speak truth to power, and inspire action. Each year, PUTF has grown, welcoming schools, theatre groups, NGOs, and young changemakers, all united by the belief that art and advocacy can go hand in hand.
In 2025, climate change takes center stage. Through theatre, PUTF invites children to tell their stories, challenge adults, and inspire action for a sustainable future.
