Terms and Conditions for Participation – Short Films & Documentaries
Purple Umbrella Festival
These Terms and Conditions ("Agreement") apply to all individuals or groups submitting entries to the Short Films & Documentaries segment of the Purple Umbrella Festival. By submitting a film, the participant ("Entrant") agrees to comply with the terms outlined below.
Eligibility
Open to students, independent filmmakers, professionals, and organizations from India and abroad.
Films must align with the festival's central theme: Climate Action, focusing on areas such as climate change education, conservation, pollution, renewable energy, or sustainable communities.
All films must be original works created within the last 3 years.
Submission Guidelines
Submissions must be made via the official form or portal by the stated deadline.
Films must be in MP4 or MOV format, with English subtitles if not in English or Hindi.
Duration:
Short Films: Up to 20 minutes
Documentaries: Up to 30 minutes
Each submission must include:
Title and synopsis
Director’s name and profile
Year of production
Declaration of original work
Selection & Screening
The festival’s jury will evaluate entries based on relevance, storytelling, originality, technical execution, and impact.
Selected entries will be notified via email and invited for screening during the Festival dates.
The decision of the jury is final and binding.
The Festival reserves the right to exclude any content deemed inappropriate, offensive, or misaligned with the theme.
Rights & Permissions
Entrants must own all rights to the submitted material or must have secured the necessary rights, licenses, and permissions.
By submitting a film, the Entrant grants the Festival a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to screen the film during the event and use clips or visuals for promotion and archival purposes.
The Festival is not liable for any copyright infringement claims related to the submitted work.
Fees & Expenses
There is no submission fee for entering this category.
Entrants are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and logistics if attending the festival in person.
Awards & Recognition
Selected films will be eligible for certificates, jury awards, and public choice recognitions.
Awards will be announced during the Festival or in follow-up communication.
Conduct & Integrity
Entrants must maintain the spirit of collaboration and respect toward all participants, staff, and jury members.
Any attempt to influence the selection process or misrepresent information may lead to immediate disqualification.
Modification & Cancellation
The Festival reserves the right to alter, reschedule, or cancel the event or this segment for any reason, including force majeure.
In such cases, prior notification will be given, but no compensation is guaranteed.
Legal Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of Haryana, India.
Disputes will be subject to arbitration in Gurgaon, Haryana, and the decision of the arbitration panel will be binding.
Acceptance of Terms
By submitting a film to the Purple Umbrella Festival, the Entrant acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agreed to all of the above Terms and Conditions.
